Operating from Vancouver B.C., the company provides quality service to over two hundred vessels per year and represents Owners, Operators, Charterers, and Managers from across the globe.
We specialize in, but are not limited to, the handling of dry and break bulk carriers, chemical tankers and protective/husbanding agencies.
South Korea is Canada’s #1 trading partner (by tonnage) for coal. We handle about 75% of this tonnage totaling about 8 million tons a year.
We are supported by most of the major Korean ship-owners as well as charterers and receivers.
We are expanding our customer base into Japan with support from major Japanese trading houses such as Mitsubishi and Itochu.
As Charterer’s agents, we have had the opportunity to work with the major Japanese Ship-owners handling various cargoes such as grains, coal, petcoke, woodpellets, and logs.
Mason has been the agent for FORMOSA PLASTICS MARINE CORP. (FPMC) since 1981. FPMC is one of the largest corporations in Taiwan and ranks #861 worldwide on Forbes Glocal 2000. To date, we are still agents for their vessels calling B.C. and we also act as their North America representative.

Mason began his career in 1974 as a Radio Officer onboard deep sea vessels.
In 1980, Mason immigrated to Canada and joined Dodwell & Co.: he was promoted to manager in 1988.
Dodwell & Co. was acquired by Inchcape (ISS) and Mason remained as manager.
The company has gone through the ups and downs with the cyclical shipping market and we have been able to survive this increasingly competitive market through our quality of service and attention to our clients.
Over the years, Mason’s four children joined the company and we are now the only family owned and operated shipping agency in Vancouver.
Mason left Inchcape (ISS) to establish his own company "Mason Agency Ltd".
We celebrated our 23rd year anniversary this year (2018) and strive to have many more in the years ahead.
